Downs Unplugged Coffeehouse

The Second Saturday of every month we feature local and regional entertainment along with coffee and desserts.  A great opportunity to enjoy an evening out with some great entertainment.
August 9, 2008, 7:30 at Down Memorial Hall
Featuring Nolan Sump, The Dirty Thirties: Life as a Dust Bowl Farmer

Nolan sump of Downs will be giving a presentation entitled, "The Dirty Thirties: Life as a Dust Bowl Farmer" on August 9 at 7:30 pm.  He will be giving a PowerPoint presentation on the origins of what caused the dust storms that plagued much of Western and Central Kansas in the 1930s.  After an intermission of delicious (and dust-free) desserts, Nolan will perform as Hank Emerson, a 1937 Southwest Kansas farmer caught in the midst of the Great Depression and living in the epicenter of the Dust Bowl.

The Downs Unplugged Coffeehouse is a great opportunity to enjoy a night out with some great entertainment and great desserts.  The entertainment is free, however, donations are welcome.  Desserts are also available for a small donation.

The Downs Unplugged Coffeehouse is sponsored by the Downs Arts Council, Inc., local businesses and contributors.

This program is presented in part by the Kansas Arts Commission, a state agency, and by the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency which believes that a great nation deserves great art.
